Reno’s classic Montreux golf event wraps up its first ten years with a title sponsor and plans to continue its popular run as one of the PGA tours favorite events. The Legends Reno-Tahoe Open comes into the Montreux Golf and Country Club for its tenth consecutive years as a PGA Tour stop from July 29 – August 3, 2008. A field of 132 Veterans and rookie PGA professionals will compete for the first prize amount of $540,000 with an additional 12,500 FedExCup points, of the three million dollar total prize money.

This Reno tournament attracts many PGA players that have won major championships, including Fred Couples, Mark O’Meara, John Daly, Justin Leonard, Nick Price, Nick Faldo, Reno resident Scott McCarron, Steven Elkington, Scott Verplank, and Sergio Garcia. Tiger Woods of course won’t be at the Montreux event. New sponsor, The Legends at Sparks Marina, increases sponsor support which will now help the Montreux PGA tournament gain on its vision of building the tournament into a significant social and cultural happening for the entire area.

PGA commissioner Tim Finchem stated that the PGA was very pleased with the new sponsorship for this event. Special packages that include accommodations, tickets and many extras are being offered by most of the major Reno hotel and casinos.

This picturesque golf course is located among some very beautiful Montreux custom golf course homes in the area that enjoy views of multiple areas of the Montreux golf course. I may even have to run an open house one of the tournament days on one of our golf course listings in there.

Hopefully, I will see you there, it is always a good time.
